FRSC begins operation ‘Sauka lafia’ patrol in Niger

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Niger Sector Command, has commenced a special intervention patrol operation code-named operation “Sauka Lafia” for highway safety.
A statement by the Sector Commander, Aishat Saadu, on Monday, in Minna, explained that the intervention was meant to inform and ensure the safety on highways.
Saadu said the operation was scheduled for July 20 to July 22, across the state.
She explained that the special operation was designed to strengthen patrol activities on major highways, improve traffic management, reduce road traffic crashes, and ensure the free flow of traffic throughout the period.
Saadu said to ensure the success of the exercise, the command had strategically deployed personnel, patrol vehicles, one tow truck, ambulances, and other operational equipment to identified critical routes and traffic-prone locations across the state.
“The deployment will also guarantee prompt rescue services, quick removal of obstructions, and enhanced response to road traffic emergencies.
“Public education campaigns would also be conducted at motor parks and strategic locations to sensitise motorists and passengers on safe road use.” She said.
Saadu, however, called on motorists, commercial transport operators, fleet managers, and all road users to cooperate fully with FRSC personnel throughout the operation.
She emphasised that the objective of the intervention was to save lives, prevent avoidable crashes, and ensure that every road user arrives safely at their destination.
She further appealed to motorists to ensure that their vehicles were roadworthy, avoid excessive speeding and dangerous overtaking, obey traffic signs, and be patience while using the roads.
” The command urges the members of the public to report any road crashes, broken-down vehicles, and other traffic emergencies through the FRSC Toll-Free Emergency Number 122 or 09139600702 for immediate response.
 ” The command remained committed to ensuring safer roads through sustained enforcement, public education, and collaboration with relevant stakeholders in line with its mandate of creating a safe motoring environment in Nigeria.
