A One Day Training Workshop, To Mark The 2022 World Food Day Celebration

Abuja - On Thursday October 21 2022 The Permanent Secretary Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr. Ernest A. Umakhihe in Abuja as part of the activities for celebrating the World Food Day (WFD) 2022.

During the event,Dr. Oyeleke Rasaq, Head of Nutrition and Food Safety, Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, FMARD. Outlined the various efforts put in ensuring food security and nutrition in the country. He also appreciated The Donor partners like the USAID Advancing Nutrition, Global Alliance For Improved Nutrition, Harvest Fields, Harvestplus, and Eat Safe Project Of USAID For their rentless efforts and support to Nigeria with a view to making sure Nigerians Consume wholesome and nutritious meals for healthy living and increased productivity.

According to the remark speech of Dr. Ernest A. Umakhihe, The Permanent Secretary of Agricultural and Rural development, "The world Food Day Celebration provides another opportunity for participants to Brainstorm and share their experiences on how best farmers can improve on their livelihoods and nutritional status as they produce and consume safe and nutritious meals. As we all know, nutrition issues are multi-sectoral".

According to one of the guest speakers, Mrs Kalyaiye Olatundun,a nutritionist, From Nutrition and post-Harvest Lead Harvestplus Nigeria,She shared more lights on the various methods and importance of retaining Nutrients in our foods, most especially our vegetables which is very good in micro Nutrients.

Speaking on the take home message,One of the guest speakers, Dr. Abdullahahi A. Ndarubu, From Harvest Field Industries Limited, Said Food is not food enough until it Nutritious and safe for our health either for local or for exports.

 Dr. Ernest A Umakhihe, Closed His remarks, By saying that he will like to enjoin all relevant sectors and subsectors as well as Development partners to intensity their efforts and deliver on their mandates towards providing whole some, nutritious foods and cost effective nutrition services for our people.
